New Orleans Pelicans sign Jeff Withey

Jeff Withey signed with the Pelicans today. Withey, who was drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers in second round of the 2013 NBA Draft was later traded to the Pelicans.

The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that they have signed center Jeff Withey. Per club policy, terms of the contract were not released.

Withey, a product of the University of Kansas, played on the New Orleans Pelicans Summer League team, leading the club with 1.50 blocks per game.

The four year player at Kansas ended his career as the KU and Big 12 all-time career blocked shots leader with a total of 312 blocked shots. The seven foot, 235 pound California native earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors in his junior and senior seasons at Kansas (2012 and 2013). Withey was selected 39th overall by the Portland Trailblazers in the 2013 NBA Draft and was acquired July 10th from Portland along with Tyreke Evans from Sacramento in a three team trade in exchange for Greivis Vasquez and Robin Lopez.
