2013 Big 12 Power Poll: Week 4

Big 12 Power Poll:

1. Oklahoma State – Previous Week: 1

Result: Bye Week

A week off for the high-powered offense. They take on a struggling West Virginia on the road next. They should put up lots of points.

Next week: at West Virginia (Prediction: Win 52-7)

2. Oklahoma – Previous Week: 2

Result: Bye Week

A bye week before they take on Notre Dame on the road. Bob Stoops should have plenty of time to take down the Fighting Irish.

Next week: at Notre Dame (Prediction: Win 21-17)

3. Baylor – Previous Week: 3

Result: Win vs. Louisiana Monroe, 70-7

Baylor absolutely rolled Louisiana Monroe, which wasn’t surprising. Baylor had 70 points with over 8 minutes remaining in the third quarter so they could easily dropped 100 points on LA Monroe if they wanted to. Lache Seastrunk had 156 yards on 10 carries. I can’t wait to see Baylor take on the Cowboys in November.

Next week: Bye Week

4. Texas Tech  – Previous Week: 4

Result: Win vs. Texas State, 33-7

The Red Raiders went about their business this week and took down Texas State.

Next week: Bye week

5. TCU – Previous Week: 6

Result: Bye Week

No game this week for TCU but they take on SMU next week in what should be an easy win.

Next Week: SMU (Prediction: Win, 38-14)

6. Texas – Previous Week: 7

Result: Win vs. K-State, 31-21

The Longhorns finally beat Kansas State for the first time since 2003 when Vince Young defeated them on a QB sneak.

Next week: Bye Week

7. Kansas State – Previous Week: 5

Result: Loss vs. Texas, 31-21

Poor Kansas State. Just when they thought they were back on track, they lost to the Longhorns for the first time since 2003. Oh, and they had a buttfumble:

Next week: Bye week

8. Kansas  – Previous Week: 9

Result: Win vs. Louisiana Tech, 13-10

The Jayhawks looked dead in the water in the first quarter after going 0-for-2 on fourth down conversions and missing a field goal. The Jayhawks were able to come back in the fourth quarter by forcing two crucial fumbles in the red zone, driving 80 yards for a touchdown and then kicking a game-winning 52-yard field goal. The defense played outstanding but the offense still needs work.

The Jayhawks have a week off before taking on Texas Tech for homecoming. This will be the most important game of the season as the Red Raiders have shown they can win and the Jayhawks need to prove they can beat a Big 12 opponent. Even a close loss will be a positive step for the Jayhawks.

Next week: Bye week

9. West Virginia – Previous Week: 7

Result: Loss vs. Maryland, 37-0

The Mountaineers got smoked this week. It’s really a toss up on whether or not WVA or Iowa State is worse at this point. It doesn’t get any better for the ‘Eers as they take on Oklahoma State next week. Good luck with that one.

Next week: Oklahoma State (Prediction: Loss, 52-7)

10. Iowa State  – Previous Week: 10

Result: Bye Week

The Cyclones take on Tulsa next in what should be another loss for Iowa State. If it was in Ames, I might have picked them.

Next week: at Tulsa (Prediction: Loss, 24-21)
