LeBron James and Mario Chalmers offer advice for freshman phenom, Andrew Wiggins

To say that Andrew Wiggins has received a lot of attention lately would be quite an understatement. From getting named to various pre-season All American lists to being considered the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft to being featured on the front of Sports Illustrated before he takes a single dribble in a college basketball game.

If anyone would understand the amount of pressure Wiggins has received, it would be LeBron James. After all, people are considering Wiggins to be the next LeBron.

“Just try to be the best student and the best teammate and the best player you can be every day,” James told Rock Chalk Blog. “Don’t try to prove anything to no one. Obviously, his future is bright, but you can’t live today and worry about the future. You got to live in the present. The only thing he should concentrate on is being a great student and being a great basketball player for his team and everything else will take care of itself.”

And if any former Kansas basketball player knows pressure, it would Mario Chalmers, who hit the game-tying shot in the 2008 National Championship game that sent the Jayhawks into overtime.

“Just have fun,” said Chalmers.

LeBron James and Mario Chalmers were in Kansas City on Friday night for a pre-season NBA game.
