James Naismith autographed bible on auction on eBay

Want to own an autographed from James Naismith? eBay has an auction for a signed bible that is inscribed from the inventor of basketball and the first ever basketball coach at the University of Kansas.

How much will it cost you? A cool $15,750. That’s even on sale from its original cost: $21,000. But hey! Free shipping!

The eBay listing reads:

1917 James Naismith Inscribed & Signed Page. While contrast here is poor, Dr. Naismith’s fountain pen ink is a technical 10/10 in boldness, and reads, “Maude E. Naismith, Apr. 14, 1917 [various Bible verses], From your loving husband, Jim.” Page measures approximately 4×6″, and is in VG condition. Please note that the catalog imagery has been lightened to increase legibility. Pre-Certified by PSA/DNA.

I’m not what Naismith’s autograph is normally worth but his autograph is rare, seeing as he passed away in 1939. As you may recall, the original rules of basketball (signed by Naismith in 1931) went for $4,338,500 in an auction back in 2010.

Hat tip to @Peter_R_Casey for the find.

  • Hi! This is kind of off topic but I need some guidance from an established blog. Is it tough to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast. I’m thinking about making my own but I’m not sure where to start. Do you have any ideas or suggestions? Thank you
