Post-Game Awards: Texas Tech (Round Two)

Beware of the Blog’s Player of the Game is Tarik Black. How appropriate that in his final game in Allen Fieldhouse, Tarik Black gave his best performance as a Jayhawk. Black was an animal inside and Tech had absolutely no answer. With Joel Embiid taking some time off with injury, Black’s great performance was not just a luxury for KU. They needed him to pick up the slack and he more than delivered. In a team-high 29 minutes, Tarik put up a Jayhawk career high 19 points off 100% shooting. He added six boards, an assist, a block and two steals with no turnovers. That is about as good as it gets. Hopefully Black has hit his stride at the right time. With Embiid’s long term health in question, KU may rely on the big man from Memphis more this post-season than we originally thought. Black fell one field goal short of KU’s record of most field goals without a miss. The record holder? Danny Manning, of course, at 10-for-10.

Current Standings:

  • 1. Andrew Wiggins (8)
  • T-2. Perry Ellis (5)
  • T-2. Naadir Tharpe (5)
  • T-3. Wayne Selden (4)
  • 4. Joel Embiid (3)
  • T-5. Frank Mason (2)
  • T-5. Tarik Black (2)
  • 6. Brannen Greene (1)

You let the whole team down Jim Harbaugh. The 49ers coach came to shoot-around and attended the game on Wednesday night, but he wore his typical Walmart slacks and black team shirt. If you are a visitor in the Phog, at least make an effort to wear some blue. Not cool Jim. Thankfully adidas is hooking him up with a jersey.
