On Wednesday afternoon, Myles Turner announced his decision to attend the University of Texas. Turner, who is ranked as high as No. 2 in the 2014 recruiting class, announced his intentions on ESPNU in his high school gym.
Turner, who was considering Texas, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Duke, SMU and Kansas, is a 6-foot-10 big man who can also play on the perimeter and hit three-pointers. His versatility is what makes him so coveted in this class. On defense, he can guard as well as any other big man in college and he can block shots.
Despite not landing Turner and losing Joel Embiid to the draft, Kansas will be fine at the power forward and center positions. Kansas returns Perry Ellis, Landen Lucas and Jamari Traylor and adds Cliff Alexander and transfer Hunter Mickelson.
Kansas hopes to add guard Devonte Graham now that Turner has decided to go to Texas. Graham is deciding between N.C. State and Kansas.
