ITP: A Texas-Sized Win and Daniel Pays Up

Have you ever said anything stupid? Daniel did during our last show – and right off the top of this edition of Inside the Paint, he pays up.

Fill in the blank: KU’s win over Texas on Saturday was their biggest road victory since _______.

It was a huge accomplishment for the Jayhawks, who combined with a stunning result in Lubbock, are in first place by themselves in the Big 12. At 5-1, KU has already participated in their two toughest games of the conference slate, so we re-examine the odds that we placed on KU vs. the field to win the Big 12 back in late December.

We still have two undefeated teams, though one needed a late push to avoid their first loss. Coach K has 1,000 wins, which is incredible, but is it more miraculous than Daniel’s horrifically awful recent stretch at picking games?

What about TCU should scare Kansas fans? Is there a chance we could see a repeat from that horrific night in 2013 that saw one of the biggest upsets in college basketball history? We don’t think so, but we break down the game anyway.

Iowa State departed the top 10 as quickly as they entered it, earning them “Scott Drew Boob of the Week” honors. Together with Texas, the two teams are considered to be the toughest two challengers to KU’s decade-long streak of challenge dominance, yet they square off tonight in what could be a regular-season title elimination game. We run through predictions for the rest of the conference games this week.
