ITP: Chaminade, Diallo Updates, and Maui Semis

Kansas wasted little time erasing the bad memory of the Michigan State game, crushing Chaminade in a record-setting offensive outburst. Once we get done recapping that game, we look ahead to the remainder of the Maui Invitational.

Regardless of the opponent, it’s hard not to be impressed by the Jayhawks’ 123-point effort on Monday night in Maui. The offensive attack was so balanced that nearly every player shot at least 50% from the field. The big takeaway from the game was the emergence of Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, so Ryan Landreth and Daniel Cunningham break down how much we should expect him to play in the next few games. The big men were fantastic and the point guards were consistent. Why can’t they all be this easy?

Inside the Paint logo.Anybody who breathes KU basketball is well aware of the ongoing Cheick Diallo saga, but things have really started to heat up in the last week or so. Bill Self is mad, the NCAA is quiet, and Kansas’ need for a dominant center is bound to come up eventually. Will Diallo be cleared by the time his team really needs him? We go over the recent updates in the case.

The Jayhawks have a quick turnaround to prepare for tonight’s semifinal match against the UCLA Bruins, so we make our predictions and talk about keys to the game. Is this the year Kansas lifts the Maui Jim Maui Invitational trophy to erase the fading memory of an ugly Champions Classic collapse?

We’ll be back tomorrow morning to recap UCLA and (hopefully) preview the Maui Invitational championship game!
