Joel Embiid out for Sunday’s matchup against Stanford
Kansas will remain Joel Embiid-less tomorrow as they face No. 10 Stanford, Bill Self told ESPN’s Jeff Goodman today.
Self also told ESPN that Embiid is questionable to return next week for a possible Sweet 16 matchup, if they beat Stanford.
Embiid is averaging 11.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game this season. Embiid has missed the last five games (two regular season games, two Big 12 tournament games and their NCAA tournament game vs. Eastern Kentucky on Friday). Embiid also missed one other game this season due to his back injury.
Naadir Tharpe also spoke to Goodman and he doesn’t know when Embiid will return.
“We really don’t know,” Tharpe said. “Some days he feels better than others. I don’t know when he’ll be back.”
