RCP Power Rankings Week 10

A wild week of college hoops means our rankings might look equally as wild. Where does Kansas land after losing their third straight? Let’s find out.

Gonzaga
Baylor

Easily the best two teams, and they remain at the top. Keep an eye out for Baylor to leapfrog the Bulldogs even if both teams keep winning though. Baylor’s schedule is much more difficult and they are winning with ease considering they play in the Big 12.

5. Houston

These are teams we don’t feel great about being this high, but given the results of this week, and the nature of this season there’s no one else to put here. These are good teams to be sure, but we still aren’t sure if they can compete with the top two.

7. Iowa

Quite honestly, I feel more confident in these teams taking down Gonzaga or Baylor than anyone else on this list. Iowa is coming off a tough loss, but Michigan continues to play well after losing to Minnesota last week. These two have very high ceilings.

8. Alabama

9. Virginia

Two polar opposites when it comes to style, but they are about the same when it comes to their place in the top 15. Alabama has a chance to beat anybody because they can hit 15 threes on any given night. We’re less confident in Virginia even if they are playing well.

10. Texas Tech

11. Creighton

12. Ohio State

13. Wisconsin

Some interesting squads here, but none of them have shown an ability to beat teams ranked ahead of them.

14. Florida State

15. Tennessee

The Seminoles are new to the rankings, and are arguably the ACC’s best team. Tennessee drops from 5th to 15th after losing twice last week.

Biggest Faller: Kansas. That’s right, the Jayhawks find themselves outside of the top 15 for the first time this season. Technically Tennessee dropped more spots than Kansas (The Vols dropped 10. Theoretically we have KU at 16 or 17 meaning they fell 7 or 8 spots), but we have to talk about KU still. A three game losing streak is a bad look to say the least. We think they will win games and find their way back to the top 15, but it will take a couple wins to do so.

Mid-Major to Watch: Boise State. The Broncos are handling their Mountain West schedule with ease, and are receiving 108 AP votes. They are 13-1 on the season, with their lone loss coming to 5th ranked Houston in Boise’s first game. All but two of their wins have come by double digits, in a relatively decent conference.
