Recruit Talk: Kelly Oubre to Kansas?

After Kelly Oubre spent two nights in Kansas last week, including Late Night in the Phog, on his official visit, Kelly Oubre has cancelled his trip to Kentucky according to multiple sources.

Oubre, who is listed as 6-foot-7, is one of the top 15 recruits in the Class of 2014. With news that Oubre has cancelled his visit to Kentucky, it is widely believed that he will announce Kansas as his college choice on Tuesday.

On Monday night, Oubre tweeted out the following:

After visiting Kansas, Oubre spoke to Eric Bossi of Rivals.com and had this to say:

“It was great. I got to see two of their practices. I got to see how they get after it in practice, how hard Coach Self (on them) is right now. So I think they’re gonna have a great team. I got to see the guys — the brotherhood that they’re forming right now. A lot of the freshmen are starting to get used to their roles. It was a great experience for me; they treated me well.”

Oubre received a standing ovation during Late Night in the Phog. Cliff Alexander and Malik Pope, both five-star recruits like Oubre, walked in to Allen Fieldhouse with Oubre and all three received cheers.

“When we walked in, it was a standing ovation,” Oubre told Bossi. “There was a lot of good vibe in there. They love their team. They love their city. They love everything about Kansas, so I just liked the feeling.”

As of now, Oubre is scheduled to visit Kentucky on October 18th. But as mentioned above, Oubre is about to cancel his trip to Lexington.

Earlier this week, it was pointed out that Oubre’s Twitter profile read “9 and counting.”

What does the nine stand for?

Could it be nine straight Big 12 championships for Kansas? Or could it be nine Kentucky national championships (if you count their Helms titles)? Or could it be something else?
