Five Things You Need to Know: September 12, 2014

Five Things You Need To Know is a new weekly series from Rock Chalk Blog which highlights what we think are the most important news stories, videos, photos, etc. of the week. Our first installment was two weeks ago.

Here are this week’s five things you need to know:

1) Kansas looks to end road losing streak at Duke

Kansas hasn’t won a road game in a very long time. In fact, KU hasn’t won on the road since 2009. 27-straight games.

But that all ends on Saturday, right? Charlie Weis believes it could end. He has a point as Duke’s biggest strength is their wide receivers and KU’s strength appears to be the secondary.

We’ll find out tomorrow if this KU team can get a road win. It might end up being their best chance all season at getting rid of this awful streak.

2) Q&A with DukeReport.com

To get you ready for the big road game, we did a Q&A session with our friends over at DukeReport.com. We did a Q&A last year for basketball and they’re very knowledge about the Blue Devils.

Check out the Q&A here.

3) Svi arrived on campus

The long wait for Svi to finally make it to Lawrence is over. Svi flew from Ukraine to the United States earlier this week and he is now attending classes. He won’t have quite the same impact on next years team ‘s the last two foreigners did on last year’s team (Embiid and Wiggins) but he’ll eventually be a key component to the Jayhawk basketball team.

4) Ticket plans for the 60th Anniversary Celebration of Allen Fieldhouse announced

If you’re planning on going to the 60th Anniversary Celebration of Allen Fieldhouse on October 27th, the pricing plans were announced this week. Tickets are as low as $15 for students and go as high as $500 (a $5,000 package for 10 people).

Read more about it here.

5) Vote! Who wins on Saturday?
