Jayhawks Oust Baylor to Reach Big 12 Finals

Two wins in two days for the Jayhawks, who advance to the Big 12 Finals to play the Iowa State Cyclones. Let’s take a look at the semifinal victory over the Baylor Bears, which propelled Kansas to a 10-0 mark against Texas Teams in 2015.

Kansas and Baylor matched up on Friday night in a defensive struggle, but thanks to Wayne Selden’s hot shooting night, it was the Jayhawks who advanced. Perry Ellis returned, and despite not having big numbers, was vital for Kansas in its game.

On the other side of the bracket, it was the Iowa State Cyclones punching their ticket in the Big 12 Finals by holding off Oklahoma by inches – literally. Is this the matchup Kansas fans want? It should be a wild game on Saturday night, but what’s at stake for the Jayhawks? Is KU locked into a 2 seed win or lose, or could somebody else come up and bump Kansas down to the three line?

With the exception of Kentucky, everybody in college basketball is vulnerable, as the #2 and #3 ranked teams both fell on Friday night. Is Kansas doomed to be thrown into the dungeon that is Kentucky’s region? Where will the other Big 12 teams be seeded? And what does Inside the Paint do to honor the hot-as-fire Daniel Cunningham, who ditched the show to celebrate a birthday party?

We’ll be back on Monday to talk brackets, upsets, and preview the Jayhawks’ first game in the NCAA Tournament. Be sure to check back for the upcoming Rock Chalk Blog Tournament Challenge, where you’ll be able to compete your brackets against the Inside the Paint hosts to win prizes!
